Rumsfeld thinks we do not understand the war

Rumsfeld has left us saying that the American public does not understand the war. I guess he is still living in a fantasy world. Let us take a look at the record.

Rumsfeld - Iraq has WMD's and is an immediate threat.
Critics - Iraq has no WMDs and is not an immediate threat .

Reality - Iraq had no WMDs and was not an immediate threat.

Rumsfeld - The war will be over in at most 6 months.
Critics - It will Take Years

Reality - it has been years

Rumsfeld - It will take only about 100,00 troops
Critics - It will Take 400,000 troops

Reality - While we can not be sure more troops would have done the job, history and simulations suggest that at least 400,000 troops would have been necessary. Certainly 135,00 was to small.

Rumsfeld - We are establishing a democracy in Iraq.
Critics - They are in civil war with no signs of an effective democracy in sight.

Reality - They are in a civil war with no signs of democracy in sight.

Rumsfeld - The US is safer with us in Iraq than with us out of Iraq.
Critics - The US is in more danger by our actions in Iraq.

Reality - According to our intelligence groups survey we are in more danger. We are disliked by a larger percentage of the world then ever before and the war in Iraq is creating more terrorists then it is killing.

So nothing Rumsfeld has espoused has any bearing on reality but we are the ones who do not understand? One begins to suspect that Rumsfeld is not taking all his pills. Or , perhaps, he is taking too many happy pills.
